Anne-Marie van Prooijen is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Science. She earned her MPhil in Social and Organizational Psychology at Leiden University (2006-2008), where she also worked as a research and teaching assistant. She then completed her PhD in Psychology at University of Sussex (2009-2012), for which she conducted research on the role of identity concerns in the acceptance of climate change information. From 2012 to 2014 she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (Université libre de Bruxelles) as part of a research chair on prosocial consumer behavior, which was sponsored by Mars Inc. Her primary research interests focus on environmental sustainability and social responsibility. Within this broad domain she uses an interdisciplinary approach to address several topics, such as CSR communication through social media, consumer trust in motives for corporate sustainability initiatives, the impact of morality features on organizational attractiveness, perceptions of economic decision-making, attitudes toward innovative sustainable food products, and drivers of prosocial consumer behavior.
