In 2007 Froukje Krijtenburg defended her PhD thesis Cultural Ideologies of Peace and Conflict: A Socio-Cognitive Study of Giryama Discourse (Kenya) at VU University. Since 2011 she has been involved in the research programme “Development as a Trojan Horse?: Foreign Large-Scale Land Acquisitions in Ethiopia, Uganda and Madagascar” (director Dr. Sandra Evers) at SCA. Since September 2013 she is a postdoc member of the research team. Her research project is located in Kenya, where she explores local stakeholder responses to a foreign large-scale jatropha plantation in Tana Delta. Research focuses in particular on stakeholder use of media, exploring in which ways stakeholder media practices contribute to enhancing voice and seeking accountability as well as impinge on local decision-making.
