National and international co-operation

Ghorashi is one of the founders of the interfaculty Migration and Diversity Center (MDC), consisting of researchers from three faculties (Law, Art and Social Sciences).

Nencel is involved within the cooperation between VU and South Africa on the Desmond Tutu project (Phd project Smuts) and in the cooperation with the African Center of Migration Studies, University of Witwaterstand, Johannesburg, South Africa (on migrant sexworkers project).

Saharso is member of the EU Network of Excellence on International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion (IMISCOE), member of the Council for European Studies (CES) and chief editor of Comparative Migration Studies.

Crul is, together with Jens Schneider, the international coordinator of the international comparative research project Pathways to Success and coordinator of the ELITES project. He is one of the initiators of the Talma Institute, for which he coordinates the Education, Labor market and Post-Initial schooling program. He is also the coordinator of the standing committee of IMISCOE Education and Social Mobility. 

Davis is on the board of the Research Committee 38 Biography and Society of the International Sociological Association. She is also co-editing a book series for Ashgate: ‘The Feminist Imagination: Europe and Beyond’.

Smets is member of the Research Committee on Regional and Urban Development RC21 of the International Sociological Association and member of the editorial board of The Open Urban Studies Journal.
