In March 2015 I started my PhD on identity negotiation at work. Little is known about the strategies that employees use to negotiate their different work-, person-, and culture-related identities in different phases of the socialization process and under what conditions these strategies are positively responded to by their interaction partners. These issues are particularly important in light of the growing diversity of the workforce. The research question I aim to answer is: “Which identity negotiation strategies are most effective towards attaining positive affective and productive outcomes at work?”
